The name of this organization will be the Operating Room Nurses Association of Ontario Registered Nurse First Assistant Interest Group and will be referred to as the ORNAO RNFA Interest Group.

OBJECTIVES
1. To advance and promote the RNFA role in nursing and health care.
2. To gain recognition for the RNFA role from our professional bodies e.g. RNAO
3. To create RNFA Fact Sheets endorsed by RNAO and ORNAO.
4. To help establish Canadian RNFA competencies.
5. To create access to funding for the RNFA role.

MEMBERSHIP
1.Active Member - RN's currently registered in Ontario who have successfully completed a RNFA program, offered by an accredited educational institution and are a member of the regional ORNAO group.
2. Student Member - Any RN registered in Ontario, who is currently enrolled in a RNFA program.
3.Associate Member -
    i) RNFAs who are not a memberof an ORNAO regional group
    ii) RNFAs from another province
    iii) Retired RNFA's
    iv) RN's currently registered in Ontario who have not completed a RNFA program.

4. The membership fee for active and student members will be $0.00. The membership fee for associate members will be $50.00 annually. Associate members who belong to their regional ORNAO or provincial group will be exempt from the $50.00 fee.

5. Membership shall be from November 1 of one year to 31 October of the following
year.

MEETINGS OF ORNAO RNFA INTEREST GROUP.
i) Regular meeting of the RNFA Interest Group will be held every other month, September to June.
ii) Special/additional meetings may be called by the chairperson.

ATTENDANCE AT MEETINGS
Attendance is open to all members and any interested parties.

QUORUM FOR MEETINGS FOR THE ORNAO RNFA INTEREST GROUP
A quorum at any meeting requiring a vote on any issue will be 33%of the active and student members. Approval being that of 51% of the above.

VOTING
1. All Active and student members have voting privileges.
2. Associate Members shall have a voice but no voting privileges.

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
The Executive Committee of the ORNAO RNFA Interest Group will consist of:
1. Chairperson
2. Secretary
3. Treasurer
4. Past Chairperson

Eligibility - All active members are eligible for election on the executive committee. The chairperson will be a working RNFA.
Term - All executive members will hold their positions for a term of two (2) years. Terms of the chairperson, the secretary and treasurer will be staggered; therefore not all positions being changed in the same year.

Election of the Board of Directors:
a) The executive committee will be elected by the members of the ORNAO RNFA Interest Group who have voting privileges. Each active and student member will have one vote, voting will be by ballot or pre-arranged proxy.
b) In the event that the office of the Chairperson, Secretary or Treasurer becomes vacant, active and student members will vote and elect another eligible active member to fill the vacant position on the executive committee. This position will be for the remainder of the term.

Duties of the Executive Committee:

1. Duties of the Chairperson
a) Preside at all meetings of the ORNAO RNFA Interest Group.
b) Communicate with ORNAO and participate on their Board as the RNFA representative.
c) Represent members of the ORNAO RNFA Interest Group and provide liaison with related Nursing Organizations and other agencies.
d) Promote recognition of the RNFA role.
e) Act as a media spokesperson for ORNAO RNFA Interest Group.
f) Receive and answer all correspondence.
2. Duties of the Secretary
a) Record the minutes of all meetings of the ORNAO RNFA Interest Group Committee.
b) Distribute copies of the minutes of each meeting to the members of the group.
c) Maintain ORNAO RNFA Interest Group archives.
3. Duties of the Treasurer
a) Maintain expense records and signing privileges for Operating Room Nurses Association of Ontario Personal Refund Expense Forms.
b) Provide a financial statement at each meeting.
c) Along with the president, maintain a current list of membership

AMENDMENTS
The bylaws shall be reviewed bi-annually.
